Frequently asked questions
Short, honest answers about sessions, preparation, what to expect, and who ALT is — and isn't — for.
MLD is a hands-on rhythmic massage. ALT uses a handheld wand with vibration, light, and electrical waves — no pressure, no squeezing. ALT reaches significantly deeper tissue, and one session is roughly the equivalent of 8–10 MLD sessions. Both have their place; we'll help you pick. Read more on The Science page →
No. ALT is performed with wands, not hands. It is non-invasive and light-touch. If you're looking specifically for manual lymphatic drainage, we're happy to refer you to a certified MLD therapist.
Deeply relaxing. Most clients fall asleep — one of the gases in the wands (xenon) calms the nervous system. You lie on a treatment table while the practitioner glides the wands along your lymphatic pathways.
Facial Flush is 30 minutes. The Touch is 60 minutes. The Flow is 75 minutes. See the Treatments page for full details.
Come hydrated, with dry hair, no body lotion, no deodorant (natural deodorant is fine), and no heavy fragrance. Eating whole foods for a few days prior is ideal but not required.
Mild detox responses can occur — fatigue, increased bathroom trips, light headaches — and are generally a sign the lymphatic system is moving what it couldn't before.
ALT is not recommended during pregnancy. Clients with pacemakers should consider MLD instead. ALT should not be used over open or newly-healing wounds. ALT is also contraindicated for clients with liver or kidney failure or congestive heart failure. If you have any concerns, please discuss with your physician and book a free consultation so we can talk it through.
All services are self-pay only. However, we do accept HSA and FSA cards.
Yes. Multiple treatments in a single visit are possible and can complement each other well. For example, pairing an ALT session with an EVOX session on the same day is something many clients find beneficial. Just let us know when you book and we'll schedule accordingly.
